The data were received according to ASTM D2343 (ISO9163). Young’s modulus was determined by means of videoextensometer. 15.05.2007 The preliminary results of basalt fibers investigation for composite pipes application. The Advanced Composite Materials Engineering Group from University of Alberta started their comprehensive study of different fiber reinforcement including advanced basalt fibers. Epoxy basalt and glass fiber pipe samples has been tested for mechanical performance. Please visit us at our booth C36. 01.03.2007 Fire tests on concrete boards Researchers of Engineering Faculty of Department of Chemical Engineering and Industrial Chemistry of Pisa University have run fire tests on basalt chopped strand reinforced concrete boards. 08.02.2007 Basalt Composite Tubes CST Composites, Australia have run trials to check the possible use of basalt fibers for filament winding of composite tubes. During the trails a 4m long epoxy based tube with 32 mm diameter and 2mm wall thickness was produced. Basalt showed perfect workability during filament winding. 12.09.2006 Polyamide with basalt fibers Different polyamide (PA) materials reinforced with up to 50 wt % glass fibers are widely used for manufacturing of high performance products, especially in the electric and automotive industry. Basalt fibers (continuous and chopped) can successfully substitute glass fibers for these applications. They give the opportunity to introduce materials with higher mechanical properties and better recyclability. 28.08.2006 Basalt Fibers as Reinforcement for Concrete Canoe This Year University of Toronto Concrete Canoe Team 12th time participated in the Canadian regional contest of American National Concrete Canoe Competition with a canoe constructed using chopped basalt fibers. 09.08.2006 High epoxy impregnation quality of our new basalt fibers. Basalt continuous rovings were tested at Electrotechnical Institute in Wroclaw (Poland); Division of Electrotechnology and Material Science. This project was focused on basalt reinforced rods for composite high voltage (HV) insulators, support tubes for composite poles and CNG tanks, produced by filament winding. 01.06.2006 NEW GRADE PRODUCTS Kamenny Vek has developed two new products of special grades: KV12 sized basalt roving compatible with various epoxy resin systems. We consider this event to be unique as nobody has ever managed to produce basalt direct roving before. The operation appears quite difficult because continuous drawing is hardly possible without breakage of the strand. 05.04.2005 Kamenny Vek exhibited high performance materials at JEC Composites Show in Paris April 5-7 our company participated in JEC Composites Show in Paris.
