Mid April 2005 Kamenny Vek launched production of basalt direct roving on its plant in Dubna.

We consider this event to be unique as nobody has ever managed to produce basalt direct roving before. The operation appears quite difficult because continuous drawing is hardly possible without breakage of the strand.

The forming set-up of basalt direct roving is a single level operation. Direct roving is produced by drawing the monofilaments from the melt and winding directly on the furnace.

That allows us to decrease the damageability of basalt fiber and increase its mechanical properties.
