March 28-30, 2006 Kamenny Vek took part in the JEC Composites Show in Paris, the main annual event in the world of composites. 900 exhibiting brands, including 85 new companies from all over the world came to introduce wide variety of composite solutions for automotive and aerospace industry, shipbuilding, civil and power engineering, electronics, consumer goods production etc.

Kamenny Vek offered a wide range of in-house products as well as goods made of basalt fiber by the company’s customers for various applications: woven fabrics and nonwoven materials, re-bars, filament wound high pressure vessels, laminates, brake pads and brake-shoe linings.

Great interest to basalt fiber showed filament winders: producers of tubes and pipes, high pressure vessels and tanks for corrosive media.

Among other areas of interest to basalt fiber are:

• Production and processing of technical textiles (fabrics and nonwoven materials)
• Production of heat resistant materials
• Concrete reinforcement
• Pultrusion

JEC Innovation Award” Kamenny Vek won at JEC 2006 in the “Construction” category became the most significant event for the company. The project designed by BBA (Black Bull AS, Norway) in a team with Kamenny Vek (Russia), Reichhold AS (Norway), Loe Betongelementer AS (Norway), TeleBryggen AS (Norway) and SelcoTek AS (Norway) is aimed to replace steel as reinforcement for concrete structures by carbon and basalt reinforcing profiles of different shapes. Basalt fiber used for this application is price advantageous, for it is considerably cheaper than carbon fiber.
