Several new projects are being introduced in KamennyVek in 2007-2008

At the moment a new project is in progress to use basalt fibers and fabrics as cement and concrete reinforcement, including cement yachts mass production. Estimations of the basalt fiber suitability for cement yachts production is carried on together with the Russian Sailing Academy company.

Another new field of application is ballistics. According to our customers data Kamenny Vek’s basalt fibers show not only 10-20 % higher tensile strength and modulus as compared to regular E-glass, but significantly higher impact toughness, which is of major importance for the successful usage of basalt fibers in armour constructions. This project is also active at the moment.

At LIBA a new CONCENTRA BIAXIAL machine was bought and Kamenny Vek company is going to produce basalt UD tapes by the beginning of July.
